Jody's News from the Road
January 9, 2008
I cannot believe that 2007 is over, and we are so looking forward to 2008!
But as I reflect on the past year I just sit back with such "Awe". Dwayne and I joined the ministry on Jan. 1 of 2007, what a difference a year makes... We were scared to say the least to step out on faith and quit our full time jobs, but this was something that we had waited our whole Christian lives to do, travel and be apart of a ministry (with our music). So when our Father opened the door for us to be apart of Marty's ministry we were more that willing to go, as long as he was leading.
Well, as I sit and look back, I can tell you that he has led in every step we took all over this country, and about 150 churches later he is still directing every step. We are exactly where we are supposed to be at this point in our lives. We have grown spiritually in such an enormous way.
Marty is not your "ordinary" evangelist, but the "realist" (if that is a word, ha-ha) man you will ever hear. I know this will sound goofy, but I think he is the poet/speaker for the common Christian man! He is all about his Father, and I am not talking about Merle! He loves his dad, but it is his Father that gets him excited and motivated.
Marty shares his message of the father/son relationship and gives folks a hope of an intimate relationship that they too can have, by trusting Jesus, (which many have done years ago) but have not learned to know who they are in their own Father's eyes because of that Faith in his son, which is PRICELESS. We go to all the different kinds of churches, and every one has received this message of "Jesus is the only way to our Father, and through knowing that they can now have a personal relationship with him as "Father".
So I come to the conclusion after that is when the walls start coming up. Our Father has led at least one person in every service we have been in to say "you cannot give up, people need to hear this". Someone has also been led to bless Dwayne after each program to tell him how much he has blessed them. They tell me (and a lot of the time) they tell Dwayne also, that he is the best guitar player they have ever heard, it has done a great work in Dwayne's life being blessed in this way (just goes to show you what Love can do for a person, words matter). I thank my brothers and sisters all over the country, you have blessed him so much!
Marty, Dwayne and I go into the programs to bless others and share our gifts and we end up being more blessed than anyone. Blessings beget blessings (looks like the fingerprints of my Father). We know when he opens doors, because we know when he does not,and we are so grateful he opened this one for us. This past year has been the best year of our Christian life, if we would have had to hand pick a ministry to be apart of, we would have never in our wildest dreams, dreamed it would have been with Marty Haggard! Thank you Marty and Tessa for allowing us to be apart of this journey with you. We love you both (Jamey too) so very much.
What a great feeling to KNOW who you are......a child of The King, in whom I call Father these days.
