Welcome to the Marty Haggard Official Website. Born and raised in Bakersfield, California, Marty Haggard began his formal career as a country music singer in 1979. In 1981, he signed with Dimension Records and cut his first single, "Charleston Cotton Mill." He traveled with his Dad's band, "Merle Haggard and The Strangers", from 1983 to 1985. In 1986, Haggard signed with MTM Records. It released Trains Make Me Lonesome, which won him a nomination by the Academy of Country Music as Top New Male Vocalist. In 1988, he was being acknowledged as one of the hottest up-and coming stars. In 1995, Haggard signed with the Critique/BMG label. Critique released both the album Borders & Boundaries and the single, "Amnesia," in 1996. In 1998, Marty's country career was going strong but he had a desire to express his Christian beliefs through his songs and began touring the country playing Churches and Christian events. He released two Christian albums titled Ready or Not Here He Comes and The Bridge. Now ten years later, Marty has returned to his country roots, singing his own songs and the legendary hits of his Dad's. Marty has appeared on Nashville Now, Trinity Broadcasting Network, Music City Tonight, Crook & Chase, The Grand Ole Opry, The Academy of Country Music Awards, The Today Show and featured in People Magazine. © 2009 Marty Haggard
